Kapha Selections is proud to present the fifth installment in its cassette series, “Drone On”: a performance piece by Montreal-based duo Future Perfect. A gauzy meditation of spoken word, collected ambience, and cerebral electronics, “Drone On” is the end product of a month-long residency at the Mitchell Art Gallery in Alberta, Canada.
From the artists:
“During our month-long residency at Edmonton’s Mitchell Art Gallery, we developed a multi-channel interactive installation and performance piece. The installation was created with surrounding research, interviews, recordings, and sound creations collected during our time in the province.
Our residency at the MAG included leading an introductory audio production workshop as well as a closing performance. Our project sought to explore radio, and more broadly sound, as a community tool in a time of technological change, as well as to promote the transformative practices of storytelling and listening as a way of understanding the other.”
Future Perfect is Amanda Harvey and Julia Dyck. The duo works collaboratively on projects including sonic experimentations, performances, audio documentaries, installations, interventions, workshops, and events. Amanda and Julia also produce a weekly radio show on CKUT 90.3 FM in Montreal, which is affiliated with the feminist media arts space Studio XX, as well as a monthly internet radio show on n10.as (Montreal).

Autechre and this album are the reasons why I recently started to look into electronica. All of these songs have something dark and artful about them. The last one is rather upbeat. Not really danceable unless you like dextrose too much. tr_🇺🇦
